Guide to Reaching the Oaxaca Coast This Winter

If you haven’t booked your winter tickets to the Oaxaca Coast yet, now is the time! You can fly into Huatulco, Puerto Escondido, or even Oaxaca City to get to this beautiful destination. Below, we’ve detailed the flight schedule for winter 2024-25, so you can plan accordingly.

Booking directly with airlines is often more convenient than using online travel agencies (OTAs) like Expedia or Orbitz, especially when handling any changes to your itinerary. Direct bookings provide more flexibility and quicker support if your plans shift.

Getting to Huatulco (HUX)

From Canada

  • WestJet: Direct flights start in October. Fly from Toronto (Fridays from November 1), Calgary (Mondays from October 11), Edmonton (Thursdays from October 8), Vancouver (Sundays from October 13), and Winnipeg (Sundays from November 10).
  • Air Canada: Flights from Toronto begin on Sundays and Wednesdays from October 27.

From the U.S.

  • American Airlines: Fly from Dallas on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays starting November 6.

From Mexico City

  • Frequent daily flights from Aeromexico, VivaAerobus, Volaris, and MagniCharters connect Mexico City with Huatulco, along with additional routes from Oaxaca on Aerotucan. Viva also flies to Monterrey (Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays), while Volaris has flights to Guadalajara on Thursdays and Sundays.

Getting to Puerto Escondido (PXM)

From Mexico City

  • Multiple daily flights to Puerto Escondido are available from Aeromexico, Volaris, VivaAerobus, and MagniCharters. Volaris also operates flights from Guadalajara on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Alternatively, you can fly into Huatulco and travel by car to Puerto Escondido. Thanks to Highway 200 upgrades, the drive now takes just about 90 minutes.

Getting to Oaxaca City (OAX)

From the U.S.

  • American Airlines: Two daily flights from Dallas.
  • United Airlines: A daily flight from Houston.
  • Volaris: Flights from Los Angeles on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays. Those in Southern California can take the CBX from San Diego to Tijuana and catch a direct daily Volaris flight to Oaxaca City.

The newly completed highway from Oaxaca City to the Coast reduces travel time to Puerto Escondido to about 2 hours and 40 minutes, and to Huatulco in about 3.5 hours.
